Admirers of the late Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic, including officials who hold top positions in the new, pro-Western government, visited his grave Wednesday to mark the third anniversary of his death.
Hundreds of mourners laid wreaths on Milosevic's grave in the yard of his family house in his hometown of Pozarevac, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) south of Belgrade.
The delegation included three government ministers from the Socialist party.
The move is an apparent attempt by the Socialists to show their respect for Milosevic even after they forged a coalition the with pro-Western groups that toppled the former president from power in 2000 and handed him over to a U.N. tribunal in 2001.
Milosevic died of a heart attack in his prison cell on March 11, 2006, while on trial for genocide at the U.N. war crimes court for former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands.
