Court to hear mental findings on Calif. arsonist

A psychologist is scheduled to report Wednesday on the mental competency of the arsonist convicted of murder after a California wildfire killed five firefighters.
Riverside County district attorney's spokesman John Hall said the judge halted the penalty phase of the trial Tuesday and ordered the mental evaluation for Raymond Lee Oyler. He was convicted Friday and could be sentenced to death because the murders were committed with another felony, arson.
Hall said the judge halted the trial after a defense attorney expressed doubt about Oyler's mental competency.
The blaze that was set in October 2006 killed five federal firefighters as they defended a home in the rugged San Jacinto Mountains.
