Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

High pressure will continue to build over the Sea of Japan on Thursday bringing mild weather to Japan. Tokyo will see mostly sunny skies and a high near 10 Celsius.
An elongated low pressure system will cover most of China and rapidly push toward the East China Sea. This system will pull in warm air and abundant moisture from the South China Sea, creating a moist warm front over central China.
This will dump moderate to heavy showers over the east, extending from Changsha to Shanghai, with widespread scattered showers spreading into northeastern China.
Shanghai will see plenty of rain with a high near 15 C and Beijing will see lighter showers with a high near 10 C. To the south, pleasant weather is anticipated as this system moves northeastward. Expect Hong Kong to see mostly sunny skies with a high near 23 C.
Further south in Australia, Tropical Cyclone Hamish, located northeast of Brisbane, will take a northwest turn and remain just off the east coast.
It is expected to lose strength on Thursday, but will continue bringing strong winds, heavy downpours, and dangerous surf to the east coast.
To the west of Australia, the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Nineteen will continue spinning in the South Indian Ocean and will not make landfall.
Elsewhere in Australia, a low pressure system will move into the Great Australian Bight but will only trigger light coastal showers. A small trough over New South Wales will kick up widespread scattered showers over the region. Sydney may see a few sprinkles with a high near 26 C.
