UN official praises Brazil's fight against hunger

A United Nations official says Brazil should be praised for its fight against hunger.
U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization Director-General Jacques Diouf tells the O Globo newspaper that Latin America's biggest nation "is an example in the fight against hunger."
He says the decision to stop hunger in Brazil is not "only political," but also "electoral, seen that twice it elected a president."
Analysts say the "Zero Hunger" program played a big role when Silva gained both his presidential terms. The government's food-stamp-like program provides food money for the poor.
Diouf said Tuesday in his visit to Brazil that the U.N. wants to organize a summit on hunger, and that it may even be called "The Zero Hunger Summit."
