Brazil, Uruguay leaders seek to strengthen ties

The presidents of Brazil and Urugay are meeting to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties between the South American neighbors amid the world financial crisis.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Uruguay's Tabare Vazquez have agreed to cooperate on biofuels, aviation and electricity.
The leaders are also discussing ways to work together to overcome the global economic crisis.
Silva said that to strengthen integration between the countries, "we need to find new ways to overcome the lack of credit."
Silva said Tuesday that the opening of an office of Brazil's National Development Bank in Montevideo and the decision by state oil company Petrobras to increase its investments in Uruguay helps consolidate integration.
