Investigator: Pastor tried to flee gunman

An investigator says an Illinois clergyman killed during a church service was trying to run from his assailant when he was shot through the heart.
That's according to Illinois State Police investigator James Walker's affidavit filed in the case against Terry Sedlacek (SEHD'-lak).
Madison County prosecutors on Monday charged Sedlacek with first-degree murder and aggravated battery in the killing of the Rev. Fred Winters at First Baptist Church in Maryville, Ill.
Walker's affidavit says Winters tried to jump from the stage and run for safety after Sedlacek approached the pulpit and fired one shot Sunday morning. That shot hit Winters' Bible.
Walker says Sedlacek then killed Winters with a shot that medical examiners said passed through his heart.
