US official: Iran nuclear warhead fuel lacking

A top U.S. intelligence official says Iran does not have any highly enriched uranium, the fuel used to power a nuclear warhead.
Defense Intelligence Agency chief Lt. Gen. Michael Maples says that Iran has not yet made the decision to build a nuclear bomb. Maples is testifying Tuesday before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
The status of Iran's nuclear program has been the subject of varying public statements by top military and intelligence officials recently. At issue is highly enriched uranium, which is made from refining low-enriched uranium in centrifuges. Iran has sufficient low-enriched uranium to make nuclear fuel, but has not yet made any.
