Thailand Week to kick off starting Saturday

Taipei, March 10 (CNA) This year’s“Thailand Week”will kick off Saturday and will feature a series of free events ranging from business seminars, food fairs to traditional performances from the Southeast Asian country, the organizer announced Tuesday.
Zhang Xue-hai, president of the organizing agency Taiwan Association for Legal, expressed hope that the event, in cooperation with the Thailand Trade and Economic Office in Taiwan, will help to boost exchanges in the areas of culture, arts, business and trade between Taiwan and Thailand.
Several Thailand-based Taiwanese businessmen, including Kenho Huang, the president of a Chinese language newspaper in Thailand and Alan Liu, president of a company called Sunshine International, will share their success stories in Taipei Saturday.
Thai officials will also address a seminar on investment prospects in the Southeast Asian country on March 18.
In addition to a Thailand food fair to be held at the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall this weekend, the event will also highlight demonstrations of Thai cooking, fruit and vegetable carving, as well as dessert making next week, Zhang said.
The event, which will last until March 22, will be wrapped up with classical dance performances by a professional Thai dance group flown in from Bangkok.
The group will tour several cities, such as Taichung, Taoyuan and Taipei next week, Zhang said.
