Share prices higher on Taipei bourse

Taipei, March 10 (CNA) Taiwan's share prices edged higher Tuesday, with the weighted index, the market's key barometer, advancing 42.78 points, or 0.92 percent, to close at 4,671.02.
Rebounding from the previous session's loss, the local bourse opened at 4,605.92 and fluctuated between 4,688.63 and 4,605.92. A total of 4.48 billion shares changed hands on market turnover of NT$86.48 billion (US$2.50 billion).
Six of eight major stock categories gained ground, with textile shares moving up the most at 3.3 percent. Banking and financial stocks advanced 2 percent, plastics and chemicals issues rose 1.8 percent, paper and pulp stocks were up 1.7 percent, machinery and electronics shares moved up 0.4 percent, and foodstuff issues gained 0.1 percent.
Construction stocks remained unchanged.
Only one major stock category lost ground, with cement shares falling 0.1 percent.
Gainers outnumbered losers 1,212 to 501, with 171 stocks remaining unchanged.
Foreign investors were net sellers of shares worth NT$5.64 billion.
