Prices edge lower on Taipei futures market

Taipei, March 9 (CNA) Prices on Taipei's stock futures market slumped Monday, with the Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Index for March falling 6 points to close at 4,624, with 93,646 contract transactions.
TAIEX Index futures for April lost 4 points to finish at 4,570, with 1,389 contracts traded, while June futures fell 5 points to close at 4,477, with 57 contracts traded.
September futures fell 15 points to close at 4,261, with 51 contract transactions, while December futures lost 21 points to finish at 4,201, with 55 contract transactions.
Taiwan International Mercantile Exchange reference levels for TAIEX Index futures trading were set Monday at 4,630 for March, 4,574 for April, 4,482 for June, 4,276 for September and 4,222 for December.
The Taiwan stock exchange's benchmark TAIEX index fell 25.39 points to finish at 4,628.24, on turnover of NT$78.49 billion (US$2.25 billion).
Electronics (TE) and financial (TF) futures, which are sub-index futures based on Taiwan Stock Exchange-listed electronics shares and financial stocks, were lower.
March TE futures fell 2.15 points to close at 194.9, with 6,599 contracts traded, while April TE futures lost 2.15 points to finish at 193.05, with 128 contracts traded. No transactions were recorded for June, September and December.
March TF futures were down 5 points to close at 461.2, with 5,300 contracts changing hands, while April TF futures fell 5 points to finish at 456.2, with 67 contracts traded.
September TF futures fell 4.8 points to finish at 434.2 points, with two contracts traded, while December TF futures rose 0.2 points to end at 434.2 points, with one contract changing hands. No transactions were recorded for June.
