AZ beats NEC to go 11 points clear

A goal by defender Kew Jaliens earned Dutch league leader AZ Alkmaar a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen on Sunday, extending its unbeaten run to 24 games.
Jaliens headed home Demy de Zeeuw's cross in the 51st minute as Louis van Gaal's side recovered from a Dutch Cup elimination by NAC Breda on Thursday to go 11 points clear at the top of the league standings.
Captain Blaise N'Kufo scored in the last minute of stoppage time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Steve McClaren's second-placed FC Twente against reigning champion PSV Eindhoven. Balazs Dzsudzsak looked set to end Twente's 16-game unbeaten streak with a goal in the 64th minute but N'Kufo netted after a goalmouth scramble to keep his side's slim title hopes alive.
AZ has 66 points. Twente is next with 55. Ajax, which drew 1-1 with ADO The Hague earlier Sunday, is third with 52.
Georginio Wijnaldum and Jon Dahl Tomasson were on target for Feyenoord in a 2-1 comeback win over NAC Breda. Donny Gorter had converted a first half penalty to give NAC the lead.
ADO boosted its chances of avoiding relegation with the draw against UEFA Cup hopeful Ajax.
Robbie Wielaert's deflected shot gave Ajax the lead in the 60th but substitute Wesley Verhoek leveled for ADO four minutes later, dribbling past two Ajax defenders before beating goalkeeper Kenneth Veermer with a low shot.
ADO controlled the first half, with Ajax hardly creating any chances.
Outplayed for much of the game, Ajax was lucky to escape with a draw after Danny Buijs nearly clinched the match for ADO off a close-range shot late on.
On Saturday, Luuk de Jong scored with a bicycle kick nine minutes into the second half to give De Graafschap a 1-0 win over Heracles Almelo while Heerenveen also won 2-1 against nine-man FC Groningen.
Also Sunday, it was: FC Volendam 1, Vitesse Arnhem 0; and Roda JC 0, FC Utrecht, 0.
