Israeli official back to Cairo for truce talks

Israel is sending its chief negotiator back to Cairo for further talks about a truce to end the conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
A statement from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office says Amos Gilad, the defense ministry official who has been the point man for contacts in Egypt, will return to Cairo Friday morning, coming home later in the day.
Gilad spent Thursday in Cairo. Olmert convened top Cabinet ministers and military commanders for consultations with Gilad after his return. They decided to send him back to express Israel's ideas about Egyptian proposals for a cease-fire.
Israel insists that not only does Hamas have to stop firing rockets at Israel, but also, arms smuggling to Hamas through tunnels from Egypt must be halted.
