Prosecutors in Ohio say they will seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a woman in her home and abandoning her 5-year-old son at a highway rest stop.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mathias Heck Jr. said Thursday that a grand jury in Dayton indicted 22-year-old Charlie Myers on charges including aggravated murder and gross sexual imposition involving a child.
Myers told reporters as he was being led into jail last week that he had made a mistake.
The boy was left at a highway rest area after his 29-year-old mother was shot to death Jan. 2 in their Dayton-area home. The Associated Press is not naming the family so as not to identify the victim of an alleged sexual offense.
