Flacco takes low-key route to making NFL history

The quarterback is almost exclusively the center of attention in any NFL team but this year's rookie sensation, Baltimore's Joe Flacco, has built his reputation on a more modest approach.
Flacco is just one win from the Super Bowl, where he could become the first rookie to start the NFL's showcase event, but even before he faces Pittsburgh in the AFC championship on Sunday, he has already played himself into the record books.
The 23-year-old from New Jersey is just the eighth rookie quarterback to make it to the playoffs and the first to guide his team to two post-season victories.
However, Flacco has continued his unlikely march deep into the playoffs without chalking up big numbers or throwing adventurous passes, but by playing to his limitations and keeping mistakes to a minimum.
"I don't care what anybody says, I'm going to go out there and try to make as (many) plays as I can," he told reporters on Wednesday.
"If it's not there, I'm not dumb enough to take the play ... I'm going to make sure it's safe."
