U.S. executes first convict of 2009

Convicted murderer Curtis Moore was executed late Wednesday by lethal injection in Texas, the first execution in the United States in 2009, officials said. Moore, 40, was convicted for the abduction and lethal shootings of two men and a woman following a night of robberies after a cocaine deal went sour in November 2005 in Fort Worth, Texas. Curtis Moore and his nephew, Anthony Moore, abducted Henry Truevillian, 20, and Darrell Hoyle, 21, tied them and placed them in the trunk of a car before driving to an isolated area and shooting them. The two men were then doused with gasoline and set on fire.
