Ex-FBI agent faces prison if conviction stands

A former FBI agent could receive a lengthy prison sentence if a judge upholds his conviction for the 1982 mob-related killing of a Miami gambling executive.
Attorneys for 68-year-old John Connolly have argued in a defense motion that his second-degree murder conviction should be thrown out because the four-year statute of limitations expired long ago. A judge planned to rule on the request Thursday.
Connolly was convicted of second-degree murder in November in the killing of 45-year-old former World Jai-Alai president John Callahan. Prosecutors said Connolly provided Boston mobsters with information leading to Callahan's slaying.
Connolly is already serving a 10-year federal prison sentence for his corrupt dealings with Boston's Winter Hill Gang.
