Czech ex-President Havel still seriously ill

A doctor says former Czech President Vaclav Havel's condition has improved slightly but remains serious three days after he underwent minor throat surgery.
Dr. Martina Pelichovska of Prague's Motol hospital says Havel slept well and is feeling better Thursday morning. She says the 72-year-old Havel will remain in the intensive care unit.
Doctors said Havel's condition worsened early Wednesday when the bottom of his right lung became clogged with phlegm.
Havel, a former chain smoker, has a history of respiratory problems dating to his years in communist jails. He has suffered chronic bronchitis since a third of his right lung was removed in December 1996 following the discovery of a cancerous tumor.
