Qatar renews call for emergency Gaza summit

Qatar's ruler is renewing his call to host an emergency Arab summit to discuss the Gaza crisis.
But the gathering on Friday is in doubt as Arab states are divided over how to deal with the conflict.
Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani says Qatar first got two-thirds of the 22 Arab League members to agree to the summit, then lost the needed quorum.
Hamad spoke late Wednesday on Qatari television, pledging US$250 million for Gaza's reconstruction.
But League chief Amr Moussa said in Kuwait that only 13 Arab countries agreed to go to Doha.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia are against holding the summit, believing it could scuttle Egyptian efforts to broker a truce between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers.
