Norwich fires manager Roeder following poor run

Norwich fired manager Glenn Roeder on Wednesday following a run of just one win in six League Championship matches.
Roeder lifted the Canaries out of the relegation zone last season and kept them in the second-tier league, but the club is currently above the bottom three only on goal difference.
"We'd like to place on record our sincere gratitude and admiration for what Glenn and his staff achieved last season when they saved the club from relegation against the odds," chairman Roger Munby said. "However this season the position has become untenable and it is with regret that the Board has decided to take this step."
Munby said the club also fired coaches Paul Stephenson and Adam Sadler, with no decision yet made over who will be in charge for Saturday's match at home to Barnsley.
Roeder had one and a half years left on his contract, having joined the club in October 2007 with the team bottom of the standings.
The former Newcastle and West Ham manager won 20 of his 65 matches in charge, but the team was knocked out of the FA Cup on Tuesday by Charlton _ one of the three teams below it in the Championship.
