Austria investigates slaying of Chechen man

The Vienna public prosecutor's office says it is investigating the brutal slaying of a Chechen man on a street in the Austrian capital.
Spokesman Gerhard Jarosch says authorities arrested a suspect of Chechen origin in Lower Austria province hours after the fatal shooting Tuesday.
The spokesman declined Wednesday to provide more details other than to say both men had lived in Austria for some time.
The Kurier newspaper identified the victim as 27-year-old Umar Israilov. His Austrian lawyer was not immediately available for comment.
Russia's province of Chechnya has been plagued with violence linked to separatists, a police crackdown on Islamic militancy, clan rivalries and internal power struggles.
