China chemical plant project moved after protests

China's environment ministry has given the go-ahead for a chemical plant that provoked protests among residents worried over potential health hazards, after the project was shifted to another location.
The Environment Ministry announcement, released Tuesday, said the plant will be located in Zhangzhou, a city near Xiamen, on China's southeastern coast.
Original plans to build the paraxylene plant near Xiamen provoked protests over possible risks from the toxic chemical, which is used in printing and to make polyester.
