China raises 2007 growth from 11.9 pct to 13 pct

China's government says it has revised up the country's official growth rate for 2007 from 11.9 percent to 13 percent.
Wednesday's report by the National Statistics Bureau came as Beijing is trying to reverse a sharp slowdown in growth due to global economic turmoil.
China routinely revises past economic data. But the decision to raise the already high 2007 growth rate suggested the decline in last year's growth could be even sharper than expected.
