Actor Matt Dillon charged with speeding in Vermont

Actor Matt Dillon was charged with driving at an excessive speed for allegedly going 106 mph (170 kph) in a 65-mph (105-kph) zone, Vermont State Police said.
Dillon, 44, of New York, was pulled over by a trooper on the Interstate 91 highway in Newbury, Vermont, about 10 p.m. EST Tuesday. He was driving a rented 2009 Chevrolet Impala.
Dillon was charged criminally under a statute that bans going more than 30 mph (48 kph) above the limit while traveling 60 mph (96 kph) or more.
He is scheduled to appear in Vermont District Court on Jan. 21. If convicted, he could get three months in jail and be fined $300.
Dillon's publicist, Staci Wolfe, declined comment.
Dillon received a best supporting actor Oscar nomination for "Crash." His screen credits also include "There's Something About Mary," "Herbie Fully Loaded" and "The Flamingo Kid."
