Prices lower on Taipei futures market

Taipei, Dec. 31 (CNA) Prices on Taipei's stock futures market fell Wednesday, with the Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Index for January dropping 22 points to close at 4,540, with 68,206 contract transactions.
TAIEX Index futures for February lost 18 points to finish at 4,517, with 265 contracts traded, while March futures declined 47 points to end at 4,460, with 34 contracts traded.
June futures fell 27 points to close at 4,461, with 16 contract transactions, while September futures lost 13 points to finish at 4,279, with 28 contract transactions.
Taiwan International Mercantile Exchange reference levels for TAIEX Index futures trading were set Wednesday at 4,562 for January, 4,535 for February, 4,507 for March, 4,488 for June and 4,292 for September.
The Taiwan stock exchange's benchmark TAIEX index rose 2.18 points to finish at 4,591.22, on turnover of NT$53.1 billion (US$1.62 billion).
Electronics (TE) and financial (TF) futures, which are sub-index futures based on Taiwan Stock Exchange-listed electronics shares and financial stocks, were mixed.
January TE futures gained 0.05 points to close at 173.25, with 3,135 contracts traded, while February TE futures advanced 0.25 points to finish at 172.15, with nine contracts traded.
September TE futures increased one point to end at 158, with three contracts traded. No transactions were recorded for March and June.
January TF futures were down 2.4 points to close at 595.4, with 2,581 contracts changing hands, while February TF futures decreased two points to finish at 593, with 14 contracts traded.
March TF futures declined 10.4 points to end at 582.8, with one contract traded. No transactions were recorded for June and September.
