Toronto-bound Skyservice flight diverted to DomRep

A passenger jet bound for Toronto was diverted to the Dominican Republic on Tuesday due to a problem with one of its doors, aviation officials said.
The Boeing B757 operated by Canadian carrier Skyservice landed safely and nobody was hurt, said Dominican civil aviation spokesman Pedro Jimenez. Investigators were examining the plane.
Jimenez said the flight originated in Grenada and stopped in Barbados before making its unscheduled landing in the Dominican Republic in the late afternoon.
Air traffic controllers in Puerto Rico were told an indicator light warned of "a problem with a door," and the plane was diverted as a precautionary measure, said Kathleen Bergen, a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman.
She said U.S. controllers did not have more details.
Representatives of Skyservice did not immediately respond to telephone calls or an e-mail seeking comment.
The carrier operates in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe.
