MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo extends contract

MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo has signed a contract extension that keeps him at the League One club until June 2011.
The former Italy and Chelsea midfielder has dazzled since taking up his first managerial job in July, guiding the Dons to second in the third-tier league by winning 10 of their last 11 matches.
"It has been an extremely enjoyable first six months in management and I hope that, together with the players, the staff and the chairman, we can take this club forward," the 38-year-old Di Matteo said Tuesday. "We have faced many challenges since I arrived here, but the hard work, character and professionalism of everyone associated with this club has taken us into a strong position as we approach the New Year.
"We still have a long way to go and there is a lot of work to be done."
Assistant manager Eddie Newton and fitness coach Ade Mafe have also agreed two-year extensions to their contracts.
Di Matteo retired from playing due to injury in 2002 after struggling to recover from a triple leg fracture two years earlier.
