Floods hit Mozambique, killing at least 1 person

Authorities in Mozambique say torrential rains and flooding have forced more than 2,000 from their homes, severed road links, damaged crops and killed at least one person.
The poor southern African nation is prone to flooding during the annual rainy season, although it has worked hard in recent years to boost its disaster management and limit the loss of life.
The southern coastal province of Inhambane _ popular with tourists this time of year _ is one of the worst hit areas. At least 2,000 people in the region have fled their homes.
Hundreds more abandoned their shacks in the capital, Maputo.
Emergency officials said Tuesday they have set up shelters and are providing food in the worst hit areas.
