The man who killed nine people at a Christmas party hosted by his former in-laws may have planned to kill other people.
Covina Police Chief Kim Raney told residents Monday at a town meeting that Bruce Pardo might have planned to target his ex-wife's divorce attorney. Pardo had left a rental car near the lawyer's home before heading to the party armed with four guns.
Raney also says Pardo's mother was expected to attend the party but changed her mind because she was ill.
The comments opened a meeting in which hundreds of residents gathered at a local school to begin coping with the attack Pardo carried out on Christmas Eve.
