Scuffles have broken out between protesters and riot police during a rally outside the Israeli Embassy in Athens to protest Israel's assault on Gaza.
About 300 Greek and Arab protesters are gathered outside the embassy north of the city center. Riot police used small amounts of pepper spray to push back a small group of protesters who were throwing stones. A police helicopter is circling overhead.
A separate demonstration is planned for later Monday. The march route is to pass the U.S. Embassy before ending at the Israeli Embassy. Riot police have blocked off streets near the demonstration route.
Israel's strikes in Gaza have killed at least 315 people in the last three days. Israel's defense minister says his military is fighting a "war to the bitter end" against Hamas.
