West Indies pursue large Auckland total

West Indies openers Xavier Marshall and Sewnarine Chattergoon made a solid start in pursuit of Auckland's big first-innings total Saturday on the second day of their four-day tour match at Eden Park.
Marshall made 45 and Chattergoon 31 as the West Indies moved to 82 without loss in reply to Auckland's total of 587 for seven declared.
Richard Jones made 201 _ his highest first-class score _ and his former international teammate Gareth Hopkins made 103 as Auckland set the tourists an imposing total after batting first on winning the toss.
Jones batted for 401 minutes and hit 26 fours and three sixes.
Fidel Edwards was the best of the West Indian bowlers, taking three wickets for 125 runs from 29 overs.
The first of two tests between the West Indies and New Zealand starts in Dunedin on Thursday.
