Panathinaikos beats Panionios 2-1 in Greek league

Yiannis Goumas came off the bench to score in the 84th minute Saturday and give Panathinaikos a 2-1 win over Panionios in the Greek league.
Gabriel had put Panathinaikos ahead in the 22nd before Bernard Yao Kumordzi equalized for host Panionios in the 67th.
The win came three days after Panathinaikos' humiliating 3-2 home loss to Ergotelis. Panathinaikos now has 14 points _ two behind league leader Olympiakos which hosts Ergotelis on Sunday. PAOK is second with 15 points.
Panionios charged forward from the start, coming close in the 6th when a powerful header by Lambros Houtos forced Mario Galinovic to send the ball over his bar.
In a swift counterattack, Panathinaikos took the lead with a powerful low shot by Gabriel.
After the interval, Kumordzi exploited confusion in the Panathinaikos area after a free kick by Uruguayan Alvaro Recoba to level 1-1.
Six minutes before the final whistle, Goumas _ who replaced Giorgos Karagounis in the 73rd _ gave his team the win with a header off a free kick by Gabriel.
