TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Taiwan's Citizens Congress Watch Executive Director Ho Tsung-hsun (何宗勳) told the Taiwan-based Chinese-language Liberty Times today that the Hong Kong's Next Media Ltd (壹傳媒集團), controlled by Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai (黎智英), has planed to take over the ownership of China Times Group's (中時集團) CTI TV (中天電視) and China Times (中國時報).

Ho reported the purchase on his own weblog, titled "Lai to buy CTI TV and China Times." Ho wrote that Lai might have decided to buy the two subsidiary bodies of the China Times Group and that the relevant information would be made public on Saturday.

In fact, there are rumors circulating since the beginning of October that CTI TV and China Times would be swallowed by the media tycoon in the Chinese community. Nevertheless, the unconfirmed incident will remain a rumor until after Lai officially announces the purchase.
