TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – After gaining a lot of support from the crowd in the 1025 demonstration, former President Chen Shui-bian made his third prediction in Kaohsiung on Oct. 26 that the Special Investigation Group would next summon his son Chen Chih-chong(陳致中), daughter-in-law, and his wife Wu Shu-chen (吳淑珍). The Taipei Detention House coincidentally renovated Chong Three House (忠三舍), arousing people’s speculations that the House was making preparations to “greet” important figures.

The Taipei Detention House repainted all 47 cells and changed all beds with cracks. They emphasized that it was a routine renovation and that they would not grant privileges to certain persons with special identities. They would consider non-violent suspects with no apparent political inclination in the selection of cell mates and would not provide special service or extra facilities to well-known figures.

With two previous failed predictions, Chen Shui-bian made his third prediction of his own imprisonment in Kaohsiung. After questioning the Koo’s family of the Chinatrust Group and Ma’s family of the Yuanta Group, the SIG would proceed to summon Chen Chih-chong couple and Wu Shu-chen for suspecting their roles in the alleged money laundering by the first family. The interrogation of Chen’s family members may be inevitable in the near future.
