Bradesco profit rises 3.2 percent on lending

Profit for Brazilian bank Bradesco have risen 3.2 percent for the third quarter, driven higher by the bank's loan portfolio as more citizens and businesses in Latin America's largest nation borrowed to buy goods and expand operations.
Bradesco SA earned 1.91 billion reals ($830 million) in the July-September period, up from 1.85 billion reals ($804 million) in the third quarter of 2007.
The company did not immediately release revenue figures Monday for the quarter or a comparison of per share earnings.
Bradesco is Brazil's largest private sector bank. The bank warned in its earnings statement that it could be hurt by the world financial crisis, but said Brazil is better prepared than in the past to withstand global economic shocks.
