Kaohsiung City's Bureau of Labor Affairs (BLA) is set to begin holding applicant interviews Wednesday for 500 temporary municipal government job openings under its "Warm Winter Plan."
The bureau said Monday that the temporary jobs are being offered in response to rising unemployment in the southern port city, which has resulted from the current tough economic conditions.
There will be a total of 500 office clerk and labor job openings at the Kaohsiung City Police Headquarters, Bureau of Social Affairs, Department of Environmental Protection, Civil Affairs Bureau, and Bureau of Public Works, according to the BLA.
Only jobless people who are no longer receiving unemployment insurance from the Bureau of Labor Insurance and who are not members of any trade unions are eligible for the temporary positions, the bureau said.
Kaohsiung residents interested in being interviewed for the job openings must first apply at the bureau's Training and Employment Center before Wednesday.
Applicants must bring documented proof issued by the Bureau of Labor Insurance that they are no longer receiving unemployment insurance, the BLA said.
