Conservatives leading in Lithuanian election

Preliminary results of the second round of Lithuania's parliamentary election show a conservative party headed for victory.
Election officials say that with nearly half of the vote counted the conservative Homeland Union was leading in 24 out of 68 runoff races.
Conservative leader Andrius Kubilius said Sunday the results show that Homeland Union would likely be asked to form the Baltic state's new government.
Sixty-eight seats are to be determined in Sunday's ballot, which is the second round of parliamentary voting. The first round took place two weeks ago.
