Ward makes 57 saves, Hurricanes beat Islanders

Cam Ward made 57 saves and Chad LaRose scored twice to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Islanders 4-3 in the NHL on Saturday.
Rod Brind'Amour and Eric Staal also scored for the Hurricanes in their third straight victory at Nassau Coliseum.
Freddy Meyer, Sean Bergenheim and Mark Streit scored for New York. The Islanders have lost three straight overall and three of four home games so far this season.
Rangers 3, Penguins 2, SO
At New York, Nikolai Zherdev scored with 8.1 seconds left to force overtime and Fredrik Sjostrom had the only goal of the shootout in the Rangers' victory.
The Penguins had their three-game winning streak snapped despite entering the third period with a 2-0 lead. Marc-Andre Fleury made 42 saves, but couldn't deny Zherdev and Sjostrom.
Flyers 3, Devils 2, OT
At Philadelphia, Jeff Carter scored in overtime, and Martin Biron made 29 saves to help Philadelphia beat New Jersey for the second time in two days.
The Flyers' 6-3 victory on Friday snapped a 13-game winless streak in New Jersey and was Philadelphia's first win of the season following six losses.
After play was delayed in overtime when a fan threw a smoke bomb on the ice, Carter deflected Ossi Vaananen's shot from the blue line past Brodeur.
Ducks 6, Canadiens 4
At Montreal, Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and two assists and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 47 shots in Anaheim's third straight victory.
Corey Perry and Chris Kunitz each had a goal and an assist, and Kent Huskins, Travis Moen and Teemu Selanne added goals for the Ducks. Alex Tanguay had two goals, and Saku Koivu and Tom Kostopoulos also scored for Montreal. The Canadiens had won five straight.
Maple Leafs 3, Senators 2
At Toronto, Alexei Ponikarovsky scored a third-period goal, Dominic Moore and Mikhail Grabovsky also scored and Vesa Toskala made 22 saves for Toronto.
Shean Donovan and Dean McAmmond scored for Ottawa.
Thrashers 5, Bruins 4
At Boston, Milan Lucic completed his first career hat trick with 1:41 to play in the third period for Boston.
Stephane Yelle and David Krejci also scored to help Boston snap a three-game losing streak. Vyacheslav Kozlov, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jason Williams and Mathieu Schneider scored for Atlanta.
Sharks 3, Lightning 0
At Tampa, Florida, backup Brian Boucher made 22 saves for his second shutout of the season, and Marcel Goc, Ryane Clowe and Devin Setoguchi scored for San Jose.
Tampa Bay dropped to 1-3-3 under new coach Barry Melrose.
