Tropical Storm Nuri is forecast to move northward from the Gulf of Tonkin into southeast China on Sunday, ensuring showers and thunderstorms from Shanghai to the Vietnam border.
A separate storm in the Sea of Japan will bring heavy rain to northern Japan, particularly in northern Honshu and southern Hokkaido. Precipitation associated with the storm will gradually diminish as the day progresses.
Mild, warm and dry conditions are forecast for the close of the Beijing Olympic Games.
The temperature in Tokyo, Beijing and Shanghai will be in the low 30s Celsius.
Moist flow off the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea will bring more showers and thunderstorms throughout these regions.
A large high pressure system will bring dry conditions with mild to cool air across much of Australia. The far southwest tip of the country may experience showers late Sunday and early Monday due to a strong cold front approaching Cape Leeuwin.
The temperature in Sydney will be in the upper 10s C and a few degrees cooler in Melbourne. Brisbane will experience conditions in the lower 20s.
