Swaziland trip still on planning stage: MOFA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) declined to confirm a media report Friday that Vice President Vincent Siew will attend, on behalf of President Ma Ying-jeou, celebrations marking Swaziland's 40th founding anniversary in September.
According to the report, the Swazi government has invited Ma to attend the southern African country's 40th founding anniversary and King Mswati III's 40th birthday party Sept. 6. The report said Ma has designated Siew to attend the celebration activities on his behalf due to his busy schedule.
MOFA spokesman Henry Chen did not confirm the report, but said that the matter is being handled by the Presidential Office.
"The MOFA is not in a position to announce who will attend the Swazi founding celebrations, " Chen said, adding that the choice of delegate has not been decided and that the itinerary is still in the planning stage.
He added that once the plans are complete, the Presidential Office will make a formal announcement.
