UEFA punishes Honved for fans' racist banner

UEFA ordered Hungarian side Honved on Friday to play its next home match in a European competition in an empty stadium because of racist behavior by its fans.
UEFA's disciplinary committee said an additional one-match ban will be deferred for a probationary period of five years.
Honved fans displayed a banner with a racist slogan at the Bozsik Stadium in Budapest during a July 26 Intertoto Cup match against Sturm Graz. The Austrian side won the game 2-1 to advance into the UEFA Cup.
The European governing body said Honved had shown "insufficient organization" of its supporters. The ban applies to matches in the Champions League or UEFA Cup.
In a separate case, Sturm Graz was fined euro25,000 (US$37,000) for improper conduct by its supporters at the match.
Both clubs can appeal their verdict within three days.
