Robinho asks Madrid to sell him to Chelsea

Robinho pleaded with Real Madrid on Friday to sell him to Chelsea before the European transfer window closes at the end of the month.
"I want to play in the Premier League," the Brazil forward said.
The Spanish champion became unwilling to sell the Brazil striker after its pursuit of Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo collapsed.
Despite rejecting a euro32 million (US$47 million) bid from Chelsea, Robinho's agent has suggested that a euro40 million (US$59 million) offer from Stamford Bridge could still seal the deal.
"Chelsea have a great squad, a great team and their offer is good for me and for the team," Robinho said. "It isn't because of money, it is simply because I want to leave. My personal aim is to be the best player in the world and that isn't going to be possible at Real Madrid."
Robinho has made his desire to leave clear to Madrid's executives and coach Bernd Schuster.
Now he awaits a speedy resolution.
"I've finished my cycle. I've played three seasons at Real Madrid and have given everything," the 24-year-old Robinho said. "I have scored goals, won two leagues and that isn't easy. I think my period at Real Madrid has come to an end.
"I hope the directors reach an agreement with Chelsea to resolve my situation as quickly as possible."
Teammate Pepe said Robinho should not be made to stay against his will.
"It would be harmful if he stayed at the club and wasn't happy about it because it would be bad for his career," the Portugal defender said. "I think that there are top-drawer substitutes for Robinho, who could occupy both the left and the right wing.
"We have top players to do that and Schuster knows this well."
