UK investor: Russian police raided law offices

A British investor says the Russian Interior Ministry raided the offices of his Moscow-based lawyers who are defending his investment firm in a fraud investigation.
Hermitage Capital Management's chief executive William Browder says Russian police raided four law offices in Moscow on Wednesday. The Briton says the offices were involved in defending his company and its partner, HSBC, from what he calls a 2006 criminal takeover of assets.
Browder has been barred from Russia since November 2005. His firm is one of Russia's largest investment advisers.
The firm says in a statement Friday that police confiscated important court documents.
Moscow police spokesman Viktor Beryukov says he has no information on the reported raids.
