Swiss prosecutors say several premises linked to French engineering company Alstom SA have been searched as part of an investigation into illegal payments.
Federal prosecutors say one person was arrested in Thursday's raids across Switzerland.
Prosecutors say the arrested individual is suspected of malfeasance, corruption and money laundering.
Prosecutors say in a statement released Friday that the premises searched included offices belonging to Alstom Prom AG in Baden, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) west of Zurich.
The statement says Swiss officials were acting on a request from their counterparts in France, and several French police officers took part in the raids.
