Hong Kong stock exchange closes due to typhoon

Hong Kong's stock exchange was closed Friday due to a typhoon sweeping the region.
Trading was canceled after weather officials issued a warning because of the typhoon, the exchange said in a statement. Typhoon Nuri was centered about 80 kilometers southeast (50 miles) of Hong Kong and may hit the territory directly later Friday, officials said.
The blue-chip Hang Seng Index fell 539.2 points, or 2.6 percent, to 20,392.06 on Thursday.
