Canada's Lamaze wins jumping gold

Eric Lamaze of Canada, riding Hickstead, has won the gold medal in the Olympic equestrian individual jumping event.
Lamaze won a timed jumpoff with Rolf-Goran Bengtsson of Sweden, riding Ninja, who took silver. U.S. rider Beezie Madden on Authentic won bronze.
Lamaze and Bengtsson were among 10 riders with clean rides in the first of two rounds but the only ones clean in the second round. Bengtsson knocked one rail down in the jumpoff, while Lamaze, the final rider, went clean to win the gold.
Madden also went clean in the first round but knocked down a rail in the second. She jumped off against six other four-faulters, going clean in the jumpoff to beat Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum of Germany by just a tenth of a second.
