Star pair wins Britain's fourth sailing gold medal

Star class sailing pair Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson have won Britain's fourth sailing gold of the Beijing Games, with silver going to the Brazilian team of Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada and bronze to Sweden's Fredrik Loof and Anders Ekstrom.
The Swedes had a two point lead over the Brits after 10 preliminary races and were 14 points ahead of the Brazilians going into yesterday's medal race, which counts double.
However, Sweden fell off the pace after two legs, and trailed the 10-boat fleet to finish last. That turned its hoped for gold abruptly into bronze, since Britain took fifth in the final to snatch the most precious metal.
Sweden and Brazil ended the 11 race series tied with 53 points each. Brazil took the silver because it placed higher in the medal race, with third to Sweden's 10th.
