Reports of Del Solar's departure greet Peru as it returns from Mexico loss

Rumors swirled Tuesday about an imminent departure of Guillermo del Solar as manager of Peru, complicating the team's preparations for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The national team was met with insults when it returned home Monday evening, following a 4-0 loss to Mexico in Chicago on Sunday. Players had to wait an hour and a half in Lima's airport to avoid a jeering crowd.
Peru faces Colombia in Lima on Saturday before traveling to Montevideo to face Uruguay.
"The truth is I'm ashamed," said Peru forward Paolo Guerrero, the only player who spoke to reporters. "We can't loose this game."
Peru is in next-to-last place in South America's 10-team World Cup qualifying standings, ahead of only Bolivia with two points from four matches.
President Alan Garcia called the national team's performance "terrible."
Local pundits have speculated in columns the past two days that del Solar will formally resign after the matches against Colombia and Uruguay. Possible replacements mentioned include Chilean under-17 national team manager Juan Jose Ore and Venezuelan Richard Paez, recently hired as coach of Alianza Lima.
Hopes for a Peruvian victory Saturday _ and public interest in the match _ have waned, dragging down ticket sales. Box office queues are practically empty, according to media reports.
