Several booths shuttered in Klagenfurt's European Championship fan zones after little business

Several booths at Klagenfurt's European Championship fan zones have been forced to close due to limited showings by locals.
Officials including Klagenfurt mayor Harald Scheucher presented measures to soften the blow for stall operators and to motivate more people to head to the areas.
"Several stands already had to lock up," a city statement said Tuesday.
The measures, among other things, include the waiving of booth rents and, starting June 17, the lifting of a ban on glasses, glass bottles and china plates in the city center. A traffic restriction in the area will also be lifted earlier than planned.
"We have to restore a state of normalcy," Scheucher said in the statement.
A fan zone at the Klagenfurt's fair grounds will be closed down completely and all concerts planned for that area will be held in the city center.
Austrian media reported that fan zones in some of the country's other host cities were also worried about a potential financial flop four days into the European Championship.
While broadcaster ORF said personnel has been reduced at stands in Vienna and Innsbruck, the Austria Press Agency reported that some booth operators in the capital's fan zone have threatened to go on strike because their sales expectations were down by as much as 90 percent.
