Villa scores two goals to lead Spain 2-0 over Russia at halftime at Euro 2008

David Villa scored twice Tuesday to give Spain a 2-0 lead over Russia at halftime at the European Championship.
The Spanish defense cleared the ball upfield to Fernando Torres, whose pass took goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev out of the play and Villa side-footed his shot into the unguarded goal in the 20th minute at Tivoli Neu stadium.
Villa made it 2-0 in the 44th on a counterattack from a Russian corner. The Spaniards broke and Andres Iniesta set up Villa for the second with a through ball.
Konstantin Zyrianov had missed a chance to equalize for Russia in the 23rd but his shot from inside the area hit the post.
