The Japanese company Yamaha invented a new type of digital electronic musical instrument. Users can freely play or create music just like how people can draw on plain papers. Yamaha is very optimistic that this new generation of music instrument will be favored in the market.
Yamaha first launched this digital instrument in Britain in advance. For Japan, the product was available for sale online couple weeks ago. The price is Yen 121,000 (approximately NT$35,000).
According to Yamaha management executives, the company plans to sell 1,000 units of this newly launched product in the first year. So far, hundreds of the new Yamaha digital music instruments have been sold in the market.
This new music instrument has a square shape with an area of 20 cm * 20 cm. There are 256 buttons on the front side and users can play music with different modes.
Users just have to push the buttons that are designated for particular keynotes and then they can create their own bases and play mode series.
This new generation of digital music instrument was named "TENORI-ON". One of the inventors even said that users can edit and compose music in 20 minutes.
While the device is playing the music, the LED lights on the buttons show visual effects in points, lines and other complicated signs, which enhances the visual entertainment of playing music.
There is also a graphic mode. Users can freely draw lines to create their music. In addition, they can make the lines to look like waves with another mode. As the keys and tones vary, the buttons will shine.
There are 256 buttons on the back of TENORI-ON as well.
